History

DZTR Radyo Pilipino

The station originally known as DZTR - Radyo Pilipino located at 1250 kHz. DZTR was a music AM station and features celebrities such as Vilma Santos, Tirso Cruz III, German Moreno and others. The station is the sister station of 99.5 RT.[1]

DWRT 990

After 18 years, the AM station was revived as DWRT 990 in 1994 before 99.5 RT was turned over to Real Radio Network in 1996. At that time, its studios were located in Caloocan City. It aired Music, Public Service & Religious Programing until it ceased its broadcast in 2002. It was also in the years when Super Radyo DYSS 999 Cebu aired in Metro Manila via weak signal.

Rock 990

The AM station returned on air as Rock 990 in March 2006 after an experimental program on Cebu City sister station Y 101 as the music formula of Rock 990. The owner of the station was Trans-Radio Broadcasting Corp. At that time until its current format, its studios were moved to Makati. It was heard not only on the AM band, but also on the internet. The station utilizes a computer backed programming that is transmitted to a streaming server over the internet.

For a long time, the country's "baby boomers" have not had the pleasure of listening to the music they once enjoyed, the music they grew with – rock music of the '60s. '70s and '80s. Now "Classic Rock" comes alive with the biggest flashback to hit the airwaves with Rock 990 – The Island's First and Only Classic Rock!: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and contemporary rock & roll legends.

Rock 990 AM positioned its programming line-up towards the B, C & D markets, with the sub-niche towards the "baby boomer" generation. Market studies in the Philippines indicate that the "baby boomers" are the ones who make up the country's leading consumer group. Rock 990 AM's music play list also features today's rock to capture the 13-39-year-old audience.

The station has been currently inactive since the first week of November 2006 due to transmitter facilities. In 2010, this format was revived in Davao as Rock 100.3

DWRT Nueve Noventa
